Belfic

Belfic comes from a small, undistinguished clan in the Dwarven Citadel of Belfloda, the capital of the dwarven branch of the 17 noble houses. He is the pride of the entire clan and very conscious of the fact that he could be remembered as the one who elevated his clan to a place of respect in his community. He first distinguished himself guarding The Keep against countless attacks, and went on to establish himself as a talented platoon leader. His moment of glory came when he slew Balc’urd, the chieftain of a particularly troublesome Orc tribe, in single combat. He was offered his choice of commissions, and chose to be the Captain of The Keep to nurse what he considers his one personality flaw, an interest in non-dwarven culture and life. He hopes that when his tour is up he will have outgrown this folly of his youth. He has a head for names and can name any of his soldiers on sight, even the conscripts. He will remember any important details mentioned to him and can quote every patrol summary for the last week. His opinion of the conscripts is low, but several have earned his respect and many have remained on as soldiers, inspired by his leadership. He has a personal guard composed of ex-soldiers and conscripts that function as trouble-shooters for him. Unfortunately, they are all soldiers at heart and not competent as investigators or he wouldn’t have recruited the PCs. He does things by the book but he will use wiggle room on rules, if it is available and he feels it is right. He thinks of those who travel beyond The Keep for adventure as unwise and those who go to settle as fools. He is all too aware of the dangers that remain beyond The Keep.

Chief of the Guards at The Keep

The group got along well with him and were asked by him to investigate the mysterious death of a guard posted high on The Keep.
